Looking back on our month of May, here is what we've been up to...
Pasta Making Workshop & Caroline's Birthday
We celebrated Caroline's birthday on the same day we were welcomes to Pasta Evangelists for an amazing pasta making class - chef Rosie taught the Rainbow Club all about the process of making pasta and told us all about Italy and their love for making pasta. Afterwards the group all dined on what they had made!
Spring is here...
As the weather turned warmer we heard lots of little voices asking to play in the garden, which is a firm favourite for the kids!
Mini canvases!
An activity that went down an abolsute treat this month - painting mini!
Artist Workshop
We had artist Doddz come by the studio for a kids club session, to run a workshop within his medium - AI. He brought a giant screen with him where he displayed this amazing giraffe world, the children then coloured in the giraffes on paper, before scanning them in. Once they had been scanned, the colourful giraffes walked straight into the on-screen giraffe world for the children to see their artwork come to life.
Bao Tournement
We have had an on-going tournement within the childrens club for the game Bao - it finally came to a close, congratulations to Zahara who was our winner!
Exhibition Workshop
Our next exhibition is going to be slightly different from our usual ones. We are partnered up with one of our wonderful corporate partners, Liberty Global. Their office is in the iconic walkie talkie building, and they have commissioned us to create artworks for their offices. We have been super busy running abstract painting workshops with all of our clubs, painting on big A1 card which has been really fun to work on a larger scale. Liberty will then host an exhibition for us at the beginning of August, and then display the artworks in their offices for 1 year, before putting them up for auction. It is such an incredble opportunity and achievement for our group members to have their work selected and displayed in such a professional and prestigious environment.
A day out at Borough Market
Philip had been asking on repeat to go to Borough Market and the weather was perfect so we decided to head there for a morning of exploring! We started with a coffee and a look around Southwark Cathedral, before wandering into the market to look at all the stalls (Philip was very intrigued but not keen on the Oyster stall!). After a lovely browse and a stop off for a cold drink we headed for lunch at Maria's Cafe. After lunch we headed to the river and looked into the Golden Hinde Ship, which Paulette was very impressed by. We had a final drink in the sunshine by the river before heading home for the day.
Half Term trip to Hobbledown Heath
It was an absolute scorcher of a day during Half Term and we had planned a trip to Hobbledown Heath - so we all got on the coach and enjoyed a day of Capybaras, giant bouncy castle type things (who knows what they are called!) and play areas - along with some icecreams!
